And the winner is ...

Hinter uns liegt eine überwältigende Preisverleihung. Im ausverkauften großen Saal des Volksbads war die Spannung spürbar, Gänsehaut pur. Wie die Jurymitglieder bemerkten, war es unglaublich schwer, zwischen den vielzähligen qualitativen und sehr unterschiedlichen Filmen der Wettbewerbe eine Entscheidung zu treffen. Die Gewinnerfilme haben jedoch allesamt eines gemeinsam - sie haben uns bewegt, berührt, sich uns tief ins Gedächtnis gebrannt und einen Eindruck hinterlassen.

Und hier sind sie, die diesjährigen Gewinnerfilme:

Wir danken an dieser Stelle noch einmal allen Mitwirkenden, die dafür gesorgt haben, dass diese Festivalwoche des 17. Filmemacher, finnische Leckerbissen und Filme, Filme, Filme!

Das Festival ist in vollem Gange, gestern liefen die ersten beiden Filmblöcke und trotz Anreiseschwierigkeiten seid ihr zahlreich erschienen! Wer gestern Abend verpasst hat, kann auf unserem Blog nochmal alles ganz genau nachlesen. Dort findet ihr auch schon einen Ausblick auf die Veranstaltungen, die uns heute erwarten.

Ab heute reisen auch die ersten Filmemacher an, die uns live und in Farbe Rede und Antwort stehen werden. Dabei sind Niv Shpigel (Load) aus Israel und die Finnen Joonas Rutanen (on your lips) und Henri Savolainen (2b). Außerdem haben wir passend zum diesjährigen Länderschwerpunkt exclusiv für euch finnische Süßigkeiten organisiert, die ihr unbedingt probieren solltet!

Open-Air gibt den Startschuss in die Festivalwoche

Es geht los! Heute ist es endlich so weit: Mit dem legendären Open-Air im Faulloch am Johannistor starten wir in unsere Festivalwoche. Heute Abend erwartet euch die Jenaer Band The Panjabys mit Psychedelic Rock, natürlich jede Menge spannender Kurzfilme und als Kirsche auf dem Sahnehäubchen holen wir euch den Filmemacher Johannes Kürschner - frischer Gewinner des Filmfest Dresden - auf die Bühne! Und das alles völlig ohne Eintritt.
Doch das ist erst der Anfang: Ab morgen bieten wir euch jeden Tag Kurzfilme satt im Volksbad. Also schaut nochmal ins Programm und verpasst heute Abend nicht, euch noch schnell das ein oder andere Ticket zu sichern. Um 20 Uhr geht's los! Wir sehen uns!

Zeitplan steht fest

Liebe Kurzfilmfreunde,
die Unsicherheiten im Timetable sind geklärt! Die Kundgebung der ThüGIDA wurde von der Stadt Jena nun doch am 20. April 2016 zugelassen. Der zeitliche Ablauf unseres Programms muss also nicht verändert werden, es bleibt alles beim Alten. Der Vorverkauf läuft nun auch wieder für die Wettbewerbsblöcke 2 und 3 und den Green-Block am Donnerstag.
Morgen findet ihr uns und unseren VVK-Stand noch einmal von 11.30 - 13.30 Uhr in der Mensa am Ernst-Abbe-Platz. Schaut vorbei und sichert euch schon mal Plätze für eure Lieblings-Filmblöcke!

Achtung! Kurzfristige Programmänderung!

Für Mittwoch, den 20. April 2016, hat die ThüGIDA eine Kundgebung in Jena beantragt. Diese wurde aber von der Stadt Jena abgelehnt. Aktuell steht der Vorschlag, den Termin auf Donnerstag, den 21. April 2016, zu verlegen. Dem hat die ThüGIDA aber noch nicht zugestimmt.
Für unser Programm heißt das leider, dass wir uns flexibel zeigen müssen. Da wir gern eine räumliche Kollision mit einer ThüGIDA-Kundgebung vermeiden möchten, stehen die Spielzeiten einiger Blöcke noch nicht fest. Betroffen sind die Wettbewerbsblöcke 2 und 3, sowie der Green-Block am Donnerstag. Die Blöcke werden auf jeden Fall gezeigt, jedoch flexibel am Mittwoch oder Donnerstag zu gleichen Uhrzeiten.
Wir bitten um euer Verständnis und halten euch auf dem Laufenden, also schaut regelmäßig rein!

Jugendjury gesucht!

Für das 17. Internationale Kurzfilmfestival cellu l’art in Jena suchen wir drei filmbegeisterte Schülerinnen und Schüler. Als Mitglied der Jugendjury darfst du den Jugendjurypreis an einen Kurzfilm aus unserem Programm verleihen und wählst gemeinsam mit der Fachjury den Gewinner für den Toleranzpreis aus.

Außerdem lernst du internationale Filmemacher kennen und kannst dich mit diesen austauschen. Der Blick hinter die Kulissen unseres Kurzfilmfestivals ist dir garantiert.

procrastination

To procrastinate something means to not work on an important task and instead waste time pointlessly and to get distracted. In times of the Internet that mostly means watching cat videos that seem to be much more interesting than studying for the oncoming exam. Nevertheless, very rarely you can turn off your guilty conscience while you’re watching the time just passing by.

We are familiar with that problem and want to support you. Why don’t you come and procrastinate at the pro-kras-was?!-Night on 19th January in the Rosenkeller. By doing so, you even left the house and feel like you’ve actually accomplished something.

And because you don’t really watch arthouse-films to waste your time, you can expect lots of quirky, unforeseeable mindfuck-moments from the world of short film.
Come and check it out! Or do you have more important things to do?

Everyone is driving home for Christmas to spend some nice, calm days among family. But the complaints don’t wait for long: the holidays are not long enough, not enough time with friends at home und basically the year is too short anyway. We want to celebrate having not a lot of time with you: on 21st Dec, the shortest day of the year. And what seems more fitting than short films?

AG Kurzfilm calls for a nationwide short-film-day and cellu l’art is participating. “Who has the shortest?!” – come to Café Wagner and watch a colourful mix of exciting, funny and also serious films with us that especially involve one thing: Bare skin.

Much better than a conversation with your granny who as per usual wants to know how you’re doing at university!

Sweat Independence

While we are having St. Nicolaus come over today and putting sweets in children’s boots, Finland raises its blue-white flag, because the land in the north of Europe is celebrating its independence. For many centuries the territory of Finland was part of the Swedish Empire until it became an autonomous part of the Russian Empire as a grand duchy in 1809. On 6th Dec 1917 the Finnish parliament finally declared the independence of Finland. That also means that Finland will celebrate a century as an independent state in 2017.

Before that is happening the „land of the thousand lakes“ is a guest in Jena – as the focus country of the 17th cellu l’art short film festival (19.-24-04.2016). For everyone who wants to get in the mood already can check out the “adventcalendar” on thisisFINLAND or their facebook page: Every day a new emoji illustrates emotions, strengths and vices of the Fins.

On 2nd Nov Markt 11, Immergrün, Weintanne and Café Wagner open their doors for cinematic art yet again for “a bar is a screen”. You can expect special beverages and an exciting selection of short films well worth seeing. Whoever wants to meet the cellu l’art team and wants to get to know the bar scene of Jena is welcome to join!

Kickoff

That was the 16th Cellu l’art International Short film festival. The old one is in the past and the new one…just started! On this weekend we’ll commence the new festival season with a drum roll. On the occasion of the Irish Days, we’ll once again take you to the breathtaking cultural landscape of Ireland on Saturday evening from 8 pm in the Haus auf der Mauer. The theme of the evening – love – is just as multifaceted as the short films of the green island. Whether dramatic live action or puppet shows, we’ve got something to offer for everyone.

Anyone who wants to participate and not just watch is invited to come for coffee and cake at 4 pm. You want to discover international short films and to shape the festival yourself or meet the film makers? The Speed Date is just the thing for you! Get to know the Cellu l’art-creators and the association work and after that we’ll enjoy the film night together.

Wet paint!

With thundering applause and a shower of confetti we are presenting our new website. We are rolling out a new design entering our 17th festival season and after a long remodeling, you are finally able to check out our new look. Although it is a while until April 2016, it will not be a boring time in the short film scene of Jena. You should expect numerous short film nights throughout the next several months.

For anyone who is interested, on October, 17th 2015, we will host a short teatime and speed-dating event in order to get to know the wonderful people working to put on this film festival. In addition, we encourage discussing our focus on Ireland while enjoying a nice cold beer. This will take place at the international centrum Haus auf der Mauer. Wide awake we are having our second “A Bar Is A Screen” Night on November 2nd, where we are not only bar-hopping but also walking through the international world of short film.

Come on over and enjoy it with us!

Ceremony of the winners

On 16th May the Cellu l’art short film festival took place in Jena. On Saturday the 25th April 2015 the award winners of this year’s festival were announced within a solemn award ceremony. The international short film winners were very well received by the team and the 200 guests on Saturday evening.
